Richard Prestegaard
Managing Director
Rich Prestegaard is a Managing Director for KPMG Corporate Finance, leading the Financial Sponsors Coverage Team. Based in New York, Rich focuses on working with our senior bankers across industries and service offerings to develop deep long-term relationships with our private equity clients to understand investment strategies and focus, as well as providing a comprehensive range of services to develop high-quality deal flow and idea generation for new platform investments and portfolio companies.
Prior to joining KPMG in 2025, Rich worked for four years as Head of Business Development at Freeman Spogli, a consumer and distribution-focused private equity firm with approximately $5 billion in AUM, where he significantly expanded deal sourcing capabilities and played a key role in driving materially elevated add-on acquisition activity. He was also a Partner at High Road Capital Partners, a lower middle market focused PE firm, where he helped raise two funds and led sourcing efforts that generated thousands of qualified opportunities and completed 50 acquisitions. Earlier in his career, Rich held senior investment banking roles at Barclays Capital and Citi.
Rich received an MBA in Finance and Accounting from NYU Stern School of Business and a BA in Sociology from the College of the Holy Cross.
